The champions of WWE’s flagship
television clashed Sunday night during Raw’s first exclusive pay-per-view since
the company re-launched the brand extension, Clash of Champions. Reigns, who
sold back and rib injuries throughout as Rusev attempted to wear him down for
that late submission attempt, saw an earlier spear attempt interrupted when
Rusev's wife Lana stood on the apron and distracted him.
On a show that featured an
overbooked main event, a disappointing Women’s match and some questionable
finishes. He once again proved that when it comes to the big time, there are
few like him. Over and over again, he has shown us just that. Allowing Rusev to
roll Reigns up for a near three-count. Lana went one step too far moments
later.
WWE will have to hold out hope
that fans will tune into Raw going forward. Will what transpired at Clash of
Champions make them want to watch? This time it was the time to retain the WWE
Universal championship title and he did it in style like only he can. Owens was
victorious in what was easily the clash of the evening. He is a champion and we
do not need any proof of that.
